They Didn’t Have to, But They Did: The Unsung Heroes Who Make a Difference

To the People Who Make a Difference

You Know Who You Are

I've worked with some of the most incredible people who’ve shown up time and time again. Officers from the Seattle Police Department, deputies from King County, USPS workers, Marysville PD, Marysville Walmart, Lake Stevens, U.S. Marshals, and others—people who didn’t need to do anything, but did it anyway; cops, dispatchers, LE support staff and citizens.

They’ve raised money for the Special Olympics of Washington (making us #1 for two years straight), the American Lung Association in honor of Jon Emerick and in support of Randy Higa, and the Multiple Myeloma Foundation and Code4.

These folks have run miles, plunged into freezing cold water, and stood tall through it all. They’ve ridden hundreds of miles on bikes, donated socks and coats for the homeless, and made sure people who needed help got it.

They didn’t have to do any of it. But they did. They gave their time, energy, and hearts because they care. Not for the recognition, but because it matters.

So, here's the truth:

  • They stood on their integrity.

  • They helped each other win.

  • And they made a difference.

No one asked for anything in return. Not that they need it. They’ve proven what real commitment looks like.

It’s not always easy. There are always people trying to step over you to get ahead. But you get there anyway. You keep pushing, keep working, and keep making a difference.

We did it. Together.

Even though I’ve retired, I’ve got a few videos of memories I want to share. Through the good, the bad, the sad, and the ugly, we stuck together, and that’s something no one can take away from us.

I’m beyond proud of what we’ve accomplished.
